Factors Determining Russia's Public Policy in the Field of Automotive Industry Since 2000

This paper analyzes the main features of Russian automotive policy since 2000. Period of rapid growth in the production of cars from 2000 to 2012 was replaced by a significant decline. The research makes an emphasis on political origins of this fall and aims to provide a complex policy analysis of automotive industry, combining micro and macro factors. Using a historical institutionalism approach, this paper tries to conclude that political culture and political institutions could be also considered as the determinants of russian automotive industry efficiency.
