In order to create a unique demand companies need to understand habits and motivations of their customers when shopping. It helps them to accent the product and increase sales. Objective of this dissertation is to reveal Russian tourists shopping habits and motivations in duty free stores and come up with the recommendations for companies development strategies. The empirical base of the study is a survey, which was conducted in the airport Pulkovo. The survey shows Russian tourists behavior in duty free stores. Based on the survey results a list of recommendations for marketing professionals has been created. Key words: customer behavior, motivation, shopping, travel retail, duty free stores, global shoppers.
