The Application of Information Technology to Automate Logistics Processes of Trade Enterprises on the Example of the LLC "JTI Russia"

This paper is dedicated to the necessity of information technologies application for automation of logistics processes of trade enterprise on the example of the LLC “JTI Russia” (JTI). The object of this study is trade business on the example of JTI. The subject of the research is the automated system for support of continuous process of materials delivery. This study aims to raise the effectiveness of the company’s business by improvement of materials withdrawal process. For reaching the stated goal the following tasks were completed: - The necessity of information technologies implementation for logistics processes automation was proved; - The specifics of logistics IT-systems development was studied; - AS-IS model of existing process was built based on the logistics employees survey; - TO-BE model of the process was built; - By means of comparing AS-IS and TO-BE models main functional blocks for automation were revealed; - Functional and technical requirements were described; - On the base of comparative analysis the development platform was chosen; - Application database was created by means of SQL Server Management Studio; - Process analysis before and after application implementation was held. Following the results of the project a number of benefits can be highlighted: - Transparent process of requests approval and actual processing statuses; - Workload reduction for more than 20 000 man-hours by means of manual processes automation; - Users’ awareness about materials accessible for shipments and optimized warehouse management; - Increase in operational efficiency.
