Legal Analysis of the Ways to Fight Digital Piracy and of Its Impact on Development of Film Industry

This paper examines the causes of digital piracy and its rapid distribution in the Internet. The paper also assesses the impact the digital piracy has on the development of the entertainment content industry and particularly on the film industry. Besides, the paper analyzes the ways of fighting digital piracy that exist at the legislative level (and beyond) in a number of foreign countries with the most developed system of copyright regulation in the Internet. The assessment is given to the Russian "antipiracy" laws as well. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate the recommendations aimed at improving the legal regulation of copyright protection in the Internet and raising effectiveness of the fight against digital piracy.
