Implementation of PMIS: Demanded Functionality and Evaluation of Effectiveness of the Implementation

Nowadays there is a large variety of IT tools for managing projects that are different in price, functionality, and capabilities to be adjusted to company’s requirements. By this reason, a selection process of PMIS is complicated. Purpose of this study is to determine which functions of PMIS are in demand, and for which purpose it is used, as well as review of the existing methods of evaluating effectiveness of the implementation of PMIS and select the most suitable solution for specific industries and types of companies. In this article there are a detailed definition of PMIS , main advantages of the PMIS, several basic methods of implementation. Questionnaire survey was conducted among 125 respondents. Distribution of data by industry allowed to analyze answers of respondents on the scale of companies, based on number of employees, and industry. The hypothesis was accepted that successful project completion depends on the used functionality. These basic functionality sets were allocated for banks, engineering, IT companies and consulting. However, evidence was received of the successful completion of projects in companies that do not use evaluation of the effectiveness of implementation.
