The crucial role of the measurement and accountability of healthcare providers is recognized due to significantly growing health care expenditure. Russian system of the health care quality assessment has developed since 2011. Analysis of the gained experience allows to evaluate the results and to predict future changes. The research work includes review of foreign and national literature and Russian regulatory documents on health quality assessment. The study focuses on the regional experience of the health quality assessment and of the ranking health care services in Russian Federation during last 5 years. The author analyzed reports of the regional health care executive bodies, public councils and medical insurance funds. Recommendations based on the results of the research are given.
