Financial Literacy of Young People in Saint-Petersburg and Ways to Improve it

The present study examines survey data from three hundred eighty-seven students from Saint Petersburg by the means of regression analyses, contingency tables, correlation and frequency in order to understand the nature and causes of financial literacy. It would be shown that there are multiple ways to be competent in financial sphere, however earlier research illustrated the lack of financial education not only in Russia, but that this phenomenon is applicable for almost all of the other countries in the world. Therefore, the purpose of the research is to determine the level of financial literacy of Russian students and its causes. To sum up, the overall level of financial education has been found to be satisfactory in each of the universities, except among the students of economics.
