The Impact of the Rent Resource Economy on the Duration of the Authoritarian Regimes

The research works devoted to the resource dependent economies from the point of view of development of institutes appear at the end of XX – the beginning of the XXI centuries. The existing researches showing that rent resource economies provide stability of authoritarian regimes revealed the problem of the lack of common tools to study this subject: in particular, it concerns approaches to the data samples formation, the choice of variables and the method. This thesis sets the target to detect the features of influence of the rent resurce economy on the stability of the authoritarian regime. It provides the vision of the conceptual framework of the problem, as well as the approach to the formation of the data samples on the basis of the minimalist theory of democracy. The author uses the method of case-study to identify of the explaining variables, and also creates the survival model of the authoritarian regimes using the Cox regression.
