The subject of study is the duration of the transition from school to work.

The purpose of this master's thesis - analyze the duration of the transition after graduation to the job.

The work consists of an introduction, two chapters and conclusion.

Introduction covers relevance of the topic, posing of problems, determined by the object, the subject, the purpose and objectives of the thesis.

The first chapter deals with the theoretical foundations of the process of transition "study-work", compares the foreign researchers approaches of studying this issue and puts forward the hypothesis.

In the second chapter, we analyze the duration of the transition to work of Russian graduates.

Finally, we sum up, indicate limitations of the study and recommendations.

The theoretical part of the study carried out by the analysis of the Russian and foreign literature on the selected topic. Applied part - by analyzing the results of the survey conducted in the summer of 2012 in 11 regions of Russia, as part of a special international research in SPSS program.

The theoretical significance of the work is reflected in the author's attempt to consider the duration of the transition from school to work on the "micro" level within the framework of the sociological and economic approaches.

The practical significance of the work lies in the form of recommendations for further research the subject, as well as indications that could reduce the duration of the transition by both graduates and representatives of the education system.
