The notion of digital communication is analyzed in this paper, also assessed the role which digital communications play in the formation of residential communities. The purpose of investigation is to identify the role of digital communications in the formation of urban communities in areas of gentrification. The first chapter presents existing research on the topics of new media, digital anthropology, the digitalization of cities and the gentrification of Moscow and Moscow region. The second chapter examines the empirical material about the structure of digital communications in neighborhood communities and outside interference in the existing community by the developer or the administration. The hypothesis of the paper, which is that the most effective communication tool in the formation of urban communities is the use of social networking, is supported by the evidence.
