Hypothesis of the study: a number of critical factors can be identified, while studying the features of project management for major sports events organization, which can be used to optimize resource costs. Methodology of the study: survey method. The notion of the sports event and the life cycle of a large sports event is being studied in detail in the first chapter of the study. The second chapter describes the results of the study based on the survey method. Some recommendations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup project organization are given in the third chapter, based on the results of the study.
