Behavior Features of Leading Morning and Evening Shows on American TV Channels (NBC, ABC, CBS)

Hypothesis. In similar type of programs, hosts’ behavioral patterns differ from one another. The aim of this research is to establish the similarities and the differences between the hosts of the late-night and morning talk shows ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, ‘Late Show with David Letterman’, ‘Good Morning America’, ‘Today Show’ and ‘This Morning’. The aim of the study thus raises a number of objectives Objective 1: To research the late-night and morning shows’ features Objective 2: Typical image of a late-night show host Objective 3: Typical image of a morning show host Objective 4: To investigate the specifics of each program Objective 5: To analyze the host of each program Objective 6: To compare the behavior mechanisms of the late-night and morning show hosts. The structure of the research is adapted to the aims and objectives of the research. Literature review 1) the teaching and the professional literature on broadcast journalism. 2) devoted to TV presenter’s work. 3) made up of research dedicated to studying psychology of the television-viewing audience. Methodology The subject of this research is the late-night talk show ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, ‘Late Show with David Letterman’, ‘Good Morning America’, ‘Today Show’, ‘This Morning’. Chronological framework. The format of the given programs implies certain repetitiveness to the hosts’ behavior; that is why taking two episodes of each show would be appropriate. Empirical material. Underpinning the research is the material of two episodes of three late-night talk shows and two episodes of three morning shows. Results.
