Modeling of the Electrification Dielectric Space Application Using Mathcad

The present dissertation has been devoted to modeling the radiation charging of a spacecraft qualified dielectric using the Mathcad computational packet. Radiation charging means an accumulation of a space charge inside a dielectric. During this work we have determined the main physical parameter describing charging level as well as risk of initiation of an electrical breakdown. Such parameter is the radiation-induced conductivity and the associated mobility of charge carriers generated by ionizing radiation. Both parameters have been investigated in detail and afterwards we have modeled the radiation charging of two space qualified dielectrics using the Mathcad packet. As a result, recommendations for their spacecraft application have been developed
