Dramaturgy of Russian New Year Comedy Films 2015-2016: the Correlation Between the Gender and Social Issues

The relevance of this research is due to several factors, such as: an increase in the number of New Year comedies in the modern Russian film industry, the high audience ratings of New Year movies in popular rankings, a demand for comedy genre in the cinema during the New Year holidays. Subject of investigation – modern New Year comedies in the Russian film industry of 2015-2016: «A land of Oz»; «SOS, Santa Claus, and All will come true!»; «A wonderland». Subject of inquiry – an interaction of problematic and entertainment beginnings in New Year comedies in the Russian film industry of 2015-2016. The primary aim of the proposed study is to observe the correlation between social issues and an entertainment beginning in the dramaturgy of modern New Year comedies of 2015-2016 in the Russian film industry. Theoretical hypothesis: the dramaturgy of modern New Year comedies is determined to the demonstration of the current social issues, while the entertaining genre and New Year ambiance are the only forms of construction the plot. The scientific novelty of the investigation: the study discusses in details the basic techniques of drama and the ways of creation the comic in Russian New Year comedies, as well as the problems of social context in the Russian New Year comedies are studiedin the this research. While carrying the theoretical and practical aims of the investigation, the following conclusions about the characteristic features of modern Russian New Year comedies were made: 1) New Year`s entourage and celebration attributes are the only events` background, while the idea of Christmas wonderland as the supernatural phenomena is replaced by «the win» of a rational miracle; 2) an entertainment beginning and a degree of emotional tone in comedies can vary from a mild and kind irony to a caustic and waspish sarcasm; 3) the social issues of nowadays can be presented as the events` background, but can be the end in itself for the comedy.
