Today, the film industry is a product of mass entertainment, and usually one of the most popular. But worth to remember, that in spite of the great popularity among leisure activities the movie industry performs a different function - it has a significant impact on public opinion. In the current political situation the "demonization" of Russia is stronger then ever before, but not only in the political environment, but also outside it. The image of the "enemy" has become actively broadcasted in the media, and even penetrated into the film industry, which caused the appearance of stereotypes and prejudices of the Russian character, behavior and values. The relevance of this work lies in the direct analysis of patterns of stereotypes, the study of possible transformations of images through the decades and the results are compared with the views of the American and Russian auto- and heterostereotypes. The object of this study is to quantify the design of the young population of Russia (St. .Petersburg) and the United States, from 18 to 25 years high school students from different courses and specialties. And also the US movies produced in the period from 1991 to 2015, which contain Russian characters.
