The research is focused on investigating the current specifics of adoption in Russia and the representation of the theme in the system of public service announcement. The fundamental question of the study involves the process of PSA’s campaigns transforming to the new sources of media and constantly changing the political context. Social journalism including the sphere of adoption has become greatly influential in the modern world. Mass media pay much more attention to this problem, the Russian government and charity funds create new projects trying to attract the public attention to the problems of orphaned children. However, very few empirical research has been done to investigate the means they used for these purposes. Different cases of PSA’s campaigns have been taken under consideration in the following study. In order to carry out the research historical, comparative, functional, structural, content analyses, expert and in-depth interviews are used. The results anticipated advance the understanding of the nature of the quality and quantity of social advertising in Russian mass media.
