The principle of the succession of new youth magazines in relation to the counter-cultural "samizdat" were revealed during the study, provided with a theoretical basis of existing cultural studies and media. The first chapter reviews the theoretical unit about mass culture. In the second chapter, the main object of the analysis is the countercultural phenomenon. The third chapter analyzes the massive of DIY-zines of the 80s. In the fourth chapter, the transformation of the youth's magazine of the 90s was identified. The hypothesis of the study was proved to be true in part: Russian mass youth magazines of the 90s' form and content seems to be partly borrowed from the countercultural "samizdat" of the 80s.
