The relevance of the study due to the increase in audience interest in social and political topics in the media over the last 2-3 years. In addition, Russia and the United States give diametrically different assessments largest political events connected with Ukraine, Syria, Panama and so forth, so the social analysis -. Political materials in the American Journal (specifically GQ), which comes out in Russia and for Russians, it is very relevant . Scientific novelty of research due to its empirical base: Russian and American glossy magazines (GQ), analyzed in the context of their editorial policy. The purpose of the study is to identify similarities and differences in the coverage of social and political order in Russia (a subsidiary) and the American (parent) version of GQ magazine in the context of their editorial policy. In the study, the author has tried to solve several problems. Namely: 1. Describe the glossy magazine, as an independent media segment. 2. To study the history of the emergence and formation of a glossy magazine in Russia and the United States. 3. Determine the role of magazines in the coverage of social and political themes. 4. To study the relationship of the parent and subsidiary edition of GQ. 6. To analyze the process of formation of editorial publications. In an analysis of the Russian and American versions of GQ magazine, the author was convinced that glossy magazines, in part, influenced by external factors, including the effects of socio-political situation.
