"Sverris saga" is the oldest Kings' saga known to us. It is the story of the seizure of power and civil wars between king Magnus and king Sverrir. This text is the made to order saga, and Sverrir was the customer and the informant, and he used the Saga as a tool in the political struggle. Sverrir declared himself the illegitimate son of the king and with the help of the text attempted to convince others of his legitimacy. This paper presents a literary analysis of different narrative strata of the text (wonderful episodes, dreams and speeches of the king). In present work were also considered methods of influence on the reader, and was made an attempt to identify possible dictated passages.
