In this research the author makes an attempt to analyze methods of metaphorization of Russia’s image in German political discourse e.g. German mass media. The relevance of the study is to displace the research perspective from metaphors’ usage of one particular politician to metaphors as reaction to some changes in political life. Political context analyzed in this research is political crisis in the Ukraine. The purpose of research is comparative analyses of metaphorization of Russia’s image in critical mass media like weekly news magazine «Spiegel-Online» and in penny press The Bild newspaper. Object of research is Germna political discourse represented by German mass media. Subject – metaphors and metaphorical images used by creation of Russia’s image. Volume of this research is 94 pages. Research consists of two chapters. First chapter is devoted to theoretical framework. Political discourse is examined as object of linguistic study, role of mass media in modern political communication is defined, and different methods of metaphorical modeling are studied. Second chapter is analysis of methods of metaphorization of Russia’s image, comparative analysis of used metaphors is carried out. In the conclusion results are summed up. The author comes to a conclusion that Russia represented in German mass media is an important and powerful political actor.
