Landscape and Landscape Painting in English Texts of the XVIII century

The paper is dedicated to the theme of landscape in the English literature of the 18th century. The author analyses the importance of landscape theme in different spheres of the English culture of the period in question: gardening, painting, poetry and prose. A special attention is paid to the fact that the interest to landscape and nature in the prose was relatively scarse. The author poses the question about the reasons of this phenomenon and tries to answer it on the base of complex analysis of the English culture of the 18th century.
