The research work is devoted to the revealing of features in representation of the concept of the Berlin Wall in the reactions which have been received during the holding of a free associative experiment among a group of students from Russia and Germany, on the one hand, and on the other hand - in Russian media articles. Often, modern society, despite its high-tech and comprehensive awareness, has often vague or partial understanding of the socio-political and historical symbols and concepts, which retain their significance for different cultures and nations until the present time. Undoubtedly, the Berlin Wall is a very important symbol of the "Cold War" and confrontation of world powers. What understanding of this concept has the modern society? And how this concept appears in the Russian media articles? Comparative analysis of the representation of the concept of the Berlin Wall in the Russian media and in the reactions of the respondents of a free associative experiment among the groups in Russia and Germany students, allows to identify and understand the characteristics, similarities and differences in the reflection of the concept and attitude towards it of respondents in these countries. The materials of the study are: 1. Russian media text materials relating to the different journalistic genres. The number of analyzed media includes newspapers such as "Kommersant", "Vedomosti", "News", "Rossiyskaya Gazeta", "RBC", "Moskovsky Komsomolets", Internet newspaper "Times", news agency "Tass" and "RIA News". There were analyzed 66 articles that have been published in the period from 1 January 2015 to 1 May 2015. 2. The database obtained during process of a free association experiment which has been realized from 1 January 2015 until 1 May 2015, among the respondents - 60 students of Russia and Germany - are presented in the form of responses to a given stimulus-word "the Berlin Wall." The database is consists of 300 words (reactions).
