Music Consumption in the Daily Life Structure of Moscow Students

The major aim of current study is to identify and analyze the most typical music consumption practices of Moscow students. Theoretical background to understanding musical consumption practices is based on the large scope of approaches: sociological (Bourdieu, 2005, Peterson, 1992), behavioral economy (Goodhope 2013, Lacher 1989), cultural studies (DeNora, 2000, 2003, 2008, Magaudda, 2011, Hennion, 1997, Novak 2014, Stoсkfelt, 2004). Principal questions I want to answer in this work: (1) how respondents describe their music taste? (2) What daily situation of music listening are the most important for respondents? (3) What senses and strategies is related to using internet-services and digital devices for listening to music and storing music collections. The method of data collection – semi-structured 40-90min long interview with 15 first year students of one of Moscow universities, living in dormitory.
