The Analysis of Environment Development Depending on the Economic Situation in Russian Regions

No one can refute the risk of danger to the environment problems created by the man’s economic activity. Hypothesis, known as the Environmental Kuznets Curve, impact on the analysis of the relationship between economic development and environment. In according to this hypothesis, the first stage of the economic growth has a negative impact on the environment, but when it reaches a critical level of income per capita, the ecological situation is improving with the growth of income. This study is made to answer the question: is it possible to solve environmental problems through economic development. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the environmental development, depending on the economic situation of the regions of Russia. Structure of the thesis is determined by the purpose of research and tasks. The work consists of introduction, three chapters, conclusions, bibliography and appendices. In the first chapter the concept of ecology and sustainable development is revealed, the stages of formation of the concept of sustainable development are discussed, theoretical approaches to the environmental aspects of human activity are studied. In the second chapter the current state of environmental development of the regions of Russia is examined, and also the relationship of environmental and economic situation of the regions of Russia is examined on the basis of statistical data using econometric EViews package. The third chapter the main findings and recommendations are set out for solving problems of environmental degradation in the regions of Russia. According to the results of the econometric analysis shows a direct positive relationship between pollution and GDP per capita, which partially corresponds to the theory of the environmental Kuznets curve. However, except for the GRP, there are other factors such as the amount of electricity consumed, which also influence the contamination.
