Economic Models of Happiness

Abstract: The Bachelor’s Thesis contains 62 pages, 7 tables, and 2 drawings; consists of an introduction, three chapters, conclusion, bibliography (60 sources, including 55 English sources). Keywords: happiness, economics of happiness, life satisfaction, sociology, psychology, happiness measurement methods. The object of research is a social phenomenon of happiness, the subject of socio-cultural conditions and factors of the implementation of happiness in the society and its measurement methods. The purpose of this paper is to describe the factors that affect the level of happiness of the population; systematization and classification of existing models and approaches to the evaluation of happiness; evaluation of trends in Russia over the past decade. As part of this thesis, there have been studied researches of many eminent scientists, the basic approaches to the study and the methods of evaluation of "happiness", analyzed the statistics of different countries and international agencies discussed the paradox. The following trends, consistent patterns and paradoxes were identified during this study: 1. The higher the income, the more important are the intangible factors. 2. Life satisfaction of the population does not depend on the degree of well-being and economic development 3. Factors influencing the level of happiness vary considerably depending on the culture in which a person was brought up. 4. That the person can feel himself happy, he needs constant forward development, both in terms of career and personal life. 5. People tend to compare their achievements with other people. On the basis of this comparison, even if there are objectively of success and well-being, subjectively happiness level may fall. 6. Since the level of happiness depends on a variety of tangible and intangible factors, there are numerous methods for determining the level of "happiness", but they are all more or less subjective.
