Analysis of the Structure of Russia's Exports and Imports Before and After Sanctions

Currently, the Russian Federation imposed a package of sanctions that affect nearly all sectors of the economy, including exports and imports. This study aimed to analyze the structure and dynamics of exports and imports of the main industries of Russia before and after the imposition of economic sanctions. In the first Chapter of statistical indicators of Russia's foreign trade in 5 main sectors: fuel and energy complex, metallurgy, machine building industry, chemical industry, food industry in the period of 2010-2015 were Also there were investigated changes in the composition of exports and imports of the above-mentioned sectors in the period 2011-2015. In the second Chapter was conducted an econometric study based on monthly data of exports and imports of Russia's Federal customs service in the period January 2010 – December 2015. The time series that showed the dependence of foreign trade figures from certain periods were applied in research. In the analysis of exports and imports of the main industries of Russia were identified that economic sanctions had a negative impact on export performance of key industries. The imports also happening negative trend, however, is a positive factor for the trade balance, especially with a significant decline in exports. These studies can be applied in future analyses external trade of Russia, and also to predict the performance of foreign trade in future periods.
