The Formation of Social Capital of University. Network Analysis

High education gives students an opportunity to obtain professional knowledge, skills and accumulate social capital, which is an important resource. The general purpose of this paper is to consider friendship and study help networks in order to reveal the factors, which can affect the formation of social capital at university. The method of network analysis allows to estimate the structure of social relations between students and then identify the most active and popular ones. Regression analysis shows the correlation between personal qualities and probability of friendship. The obtained results could be put into the practice by different universities when it comes to developing a policy aimed at optimizing the academic performance of students
