Politics and Governance
In this research was made an attempt to trace the influence of the organizational and management structure of the democratic parties on their functioning (on the example of St. Petersburg). For the case-study, we selected 3 cases – regional branches of the parties PARNAS (People's Freedom Party), «Democratic choice» and «Civil initiative». To do this, were set and solved the following problems: researched approaches to the definition of political party, considered the place and role of parties in the modern world, studied the experience of party building in Russia, done the analysis of the selected cases, using the methods of interviewing members of political parties and the study of charters and other documents of the parties. According to the results of the research, were revealed that the reporting parties have a rather weak institutional design. Also, parties are at the stage of experiencing intra-party conflicts, so that they cannot unite for successful participation in the elections in conditions, where the political regime tends to authoritarianism.
