Analysis of Approaches to Medical Personnel Professional Development: Medical Postgraduate Education

The paper contains the main directions of improving the legal framework of the physician’s professional development in the Russian Federation. There was conducted the analysis of the current regulation to confirm the need of changes. The analysis has revealed the incompleteness of a set of incentives for continuous professional development. Professional standards, accreditation and continuing medical education were considered as possible correction tools. The data on the implementation of pilot projects of continuing medical education in the Samara and Voronezh regions, the Stavropol territory was collected. Evaluation scales of educational activities were compared. There has been made a benchmarking analysis. The barriers to the expansion of professional medical societies functions in Russia were identified.
