Annotation Speciality of this paper is solving exact cover problem and cutting stock problem on the example of pentomino problem with various options by using “Dancing Links” algorithm and its modification. At the moment, there are software solutions to pentomino problem with constrained settings and there is no software to solve this problem in the form of cutting stock problem. The aim of this work is to implement software solution to fill shapes with pentomino objects. The objectives of this work are: to provide software solution to the pentomino problem with various options by standard “Dancing Links” algorithm, to develop a modification to the “Dancing Links” algorithm to solve pentomino problem in the form of cutting stock problem. In this paper, there is a review of existing solutions, revealed their weeknesses and identified options for pentomino problem that must be implemented in software solution. In this work, there is also implementation of the modification to “Dancing Links” algorithm to solve cutting stock problem. This work includes: ● 3 chapters ● 45 pages ● 2 tables ● 24 pictures ● 10 items in bibliography ● 4 attachments Keywords: pentomino, “Dancing Links” algorithm, exact cover problem, cutting stock problem
