By the beginning of the new century, social entrepreneurship has become a subject of great public expectations. It explains the fact that phenomenon of social entrepreneurship has become the prime concern for many sociologists and other researches. The aim of the proposed study is to identify specific features of social entrepreneurship and compare them across the countries with different levels of socio-economic development. Specifically, this study examines socio-demographic characteristics of social entrepreneurs, the nature of their motivation and funding structure of their activities. The study is based on analysis of database of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor which was collected in 2009. The results anticipated may help to shed the light on different features of social entrepreneurship in countries with factor-driven, efficiency-driven, and innovation-driven economies.
