This sociological research is devoted to studying of the process of professionalization of data scientists in Russia, and to revealing of the barriers of its development in future. The general purpose of this study is to examine the possibility for data science community to become professional and to be a part of traditional professions in future. The academic project is focused, mainly, on the theoretical approach of Harris Mieg and operates with such concepts, as professional specialised knowledge, socially accepted values, local professional association, code of ethics and etc. The goal of the research is going to be achieved via conducting of qualitative sociological study, in which the main data science experts will be interviewed. Methods of face-to-face interview with experts and content-analysis were used in order to solve research problems.
