The Pupil's Choice in Extracurricular Education System of Moscow's School Districts

Most of the work represents the search of the divergence between the provided choice in additional education and registered selection of courses. This duality disclosed by qualitative and quantitative approach. The institutionalized behavior in the system described by the social interactions of involved actors (students, teachers, administration, staff). The paper consists the evaluation of chosen formats of pupil’s participation in informal education system. The two-phase field performed for successful project implementation. The ethnographic immersion has been conducted in educational complexes of Moscow, located on the outskirts and in the city center. The survey of respondents studying in four educational school districts. Results show the reform incompleteness that started with the enrollment of school facilities. Students and staff have incomplete knowledge about suitable norms of work that formulated by the education department. It was investigated that the school administration and staff have a critical attitude to innovations in general. According to the students’ opinion, the reform brings more opportunities for choice. However, schools definitely failed to demonstrate its own advantage among pupils from alternative places of informal education.
