Food Security of Russian Federation: Public Opinion and Real Practices

Research is devoted to the perception by the population of the Russian Federation of implemented policies to ensure food security of the Russian Federation. Based on the analysis of quantitative and qualitative methods of database collected by a telephone survey the author can conclude that food security in Russia - a complex social construct, which is largely linked to the internal problems of the country, due to its political agenda. A comparative analysis of the various theoretical concepts of food security suggests that the concept of food security in Russia is rooted in people's minds as the concept of food sovereignty. The study demonstrates peoples' opinion on policy measures of food security, focusing on the explanation why people support this policy even in conditions of economic crisis.
