Consumption of Counterfeit Accessories among High-Income Groups

Studying of fashion is one of the instruments of studying society. The general purpose of this research is to define and study reasons and structure of counterfeit fashion goods consumption among high-income groups. There was employed a personal in-depth interview, because it works more effectively when it is significant to specify details and to explain contradictions. The results demonstrate that the major motive of consumption of counterfeit accessories by people who can afford to buy the original product is money saving, but it has a variety of reasons. The research unveils features of consumption of fake accessories of high-income groups in Russia and allows analyzing the ambivalent attitude towards the production and purchase of counterfeit goods.
