In order to justify the current policy, the politicians often appeal to the eminent historical figures, their beliefs, political experience and heritage. During the last fifteen years the fortieth US President Ronald Reagan`s figure «has gained» a great attention among the American conservative pundits and policymakers. The appeals to the name of the former president have become a commonplace in the American conservatives` discourse. Moreover, these appeals are often accompanied by the heated debates and discussions between the conservatives. The difference of approaches to the figure of the ex-President is a consequence of the ideological heterogeneity and complexity in the modern conservative intellectual movement in America. Author has argued the two general types of conservative approach to Ronald Reagan: the traditionalist and neoconservative ones. Thus, by the different conservative approaches to the Ronald Reagan`s figure, a more detailed knowledge about the internal ideological and value trends of American conservative movement has been achieved.
