Year of Graduation: 2016

This work presents the Universal Dependency (UD) annotated corpus for Russian and a conversion process which was developed to transform The SynTagRus dependency treebank of Russian into a UD annotated corpus. The aim of this work is to create a UD annotated corpus for Russian since no such corpus was available prior to UD release 1.3 and to investigate the influence of morphological tagsets on syntactic annotation during dependency parsing. The conversion rules were based on manually analyzed examples and statistics that were extracted from the SynTagRus. The conversion itself was made automatically. Firstly, I provide a brief description of the SynTagRus treebank. Next, I present a detailed description of the data formats and the conversion algorithm. After that, I provide some details on morphological and syntactic annotations and describe the experiments which were conducted on different morphological tagsets and dependency parsing models. I conclude with the analysis of the results and typical errors.
