Logistics Risks Management by the Example of Freight Forwarding Company Activities

Key words: logistics risks, freight forwarding company, freight forwarder’s responsibility, system of logistics risks management, ways of risks processing, methods of risks management, risks impact, risks level. It is shown in this study that one of the most effective ways of improving competitiveness is implementation of risks management system. The main purpose of the study is to identify logistics risks which threaten the freight forwarding company under consideration, to develop risks management system, to select definitive ways of risks processing in order to lessen the losses in case of risks realization and to estimate the economical effectiveness of suggested measures. Using the example of international freight forwarding company the author has suggested the following ways of risks processing: insurance, reduction of possible losses and risks acceptance. The concrete measures are the insurance of freight forwarder’s responsibility, implementation of penalties to subcontractors who violate the fixed time of freight delivery and tariffs boost due to indexation with currency of adjustment factor. The economical impact of suggested measures are reflected in the DuPont system of analysis which illustrates the changes of economical indicators due to realization of offered decisions.
