My number one priority is to investigate whether and to what extent Eastern European companies manage to improve their operating performance after takeover transactions occur and to determine if company’s efficiency is indeed improved or a transaction is made to benefit managers only. Companies in Eastern and Western Europe differ significantly because of cultural and political background, so results for Western Europe cannot be extrapolated and obtaining of empirical evidence on recent M&A deals in Eastern Europe is crucial.
