Price-setting Policies of Taxi Corporations

This work offers the qualitative analysis of the structure and specific features of taxi industry in Moscow. The important feature of the market is the presence of two-based platform. This part is discussed in detail. Also, the well-developed and highly regulated market of New York is considered for comparison. Main conclusions of the work are the following. Taxi market in Moscow has improved with entrance of two-based platforms, but it still requires regulation. It can be provided in different ways. For example, by setting price ceiling or introduction of medallions, as in New York City. Possible negative effects of regulation are also considered.
