This project is a study of the period of the reign of the first emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty of Gao-zong, the most important period of the shift from the Northern Song dynasty to the Southern Song dynasty. The current research is based on an analysis of two important sources that tell us about the period of interest for us - the texts of Sunshi 宋史 and Songshi Quanwen 全 全文. Based on the data presented in these sources, our study was divided into three different stages. At the first stage, we conducted a source study of these texts, during which we found out which priorities and what source base the authors of these texts had. In the second stage, we presented a typologization of all reports of events, the subject of which was the emperor Gao-zong and, thus, found out the subject's main activity object in the context of the historical and political process At the third stage of this final qualifying work, we analyzed the activity of the emperor during his reign in the political process of the period under study, and also presented an analysis of the periodization of his reign based on the data obtained. Thus, in the course of the survey conducted in three stages we have come to fundamental insights on such topics as: sources the two main texts that tell the history of the Southern Song dynasty; the type of events the subject of which was the Emperor Gao-zong; the relevance of the existing periodization of his reign.
