The Coverage of the Doping Scandal in Russian and Western Press as a Part of Information Warfare

The purpose of this research is to identify peculiarities of the doping scandal coverage in Russian and Western media proving information warfare. The first phase of the research involves history and interpretation by different scientists of the term «information warfare», methods of its waging and topical geopolitical situation. The second phase consists of analyzing texts about doping scandals in three Russian and one German, British and American newspapers. The final stage is connected with interviewing the audience to reveal perception of doping scandal. This will allow identifying such phenomena as information warfare. The graduation paper represents the differences in doping scandals coverage between Russian and Western media and show how all of them uses manipulative techniques no matter their owners and editorial policy.
