Lifelogging as the Practice of Everyday Life Documentation: Technology, Communities, Effects

The purpose of this research is to examine the lifelogging phenomenon and to characterize its technologies, communities and effects. The object is the lifelogging as a practice of everyday life documentation. The subject – technologies, communities, and the effects of lifelogging practices. This research consists introduction, three chapters, conclusion, bibliography and applications. The first, theoretical chapter of the present study, provides a comprehensive description of the lifelogging phenomenon: the origins of its development, classification of everyday life documentation’ practices, the prospects and effects of this trend. In the second and the third chapters we thoroughly analyze the key features of the lifelogging as a phenomenon due to the combination of the methods such as in-depth interviews and online observations with the subsequent comparative analysis of the obtained materials. We get a detailed description of user experience, technologies for self-tracking and lifeloggers’ community. In addition, in certain cases, we use the method of typologization, analysis of secondary data (statistics) and lexical-stylistic analysis of the content.
