Peer Effects Comparison in Studying Mathematics and English Language

This paper investigates the peer effects for students of the faculty of Economics, management and business Informatics, who entered the National research University "Higher school of Economics", Perm, Russia in 2014-2015. In addition to the study of the peer effects for the total score for the first course was investigated these effects in the study of mathematics and English language. To identify peer effects was conducted econometric analysis using Eviews. It was found the presence of peer effects in the investigated student groups. This effect wore not linear, which is consistent with the results of previous researchers. In our work, the positive impact of strong comrades are most susceptible to the least prepared students of both educational areas. One of the hypotheses put forward at the beginning of the study, was confirmed. The obtained results can be applied in the formation of academic student groups, to improve the academic achievement of students.
