For a long time, development of countries is a significant question: the developed countries have an impact on all areas, the developing countries are trying to get into the category of leaders, and less developed countries have more pressing issues. The issue of social-economic development was considered by many scientists, and not only with regard to countries, but also to certain regions. Russia is no exception, but generally in the analysis of development of regions a limited number of variables is used or not all regions are considered. This study has incorporated a fairly extensive system of indicators (economic, social, environmental, innovation), and also absolutely all Russian regions are involved. This work is based on multivariate statistical analysis: correlation, regression, factor, cluster and discriminant analyzes were used. The study shows what indicators have influence on the development of the regions, in other words, it helps to determine the direction of future policies, and also it identifies the real volume of the differences for various characteristics and pace of development.
