The Impact of Magdeburg Rights on City Development

In this paper, the impact of the Magdeburg law on the management and formation of cities is analyzed. The main content of the Magdeburg law is investigated, the influence of the Magdeburg law on the management system, the character of the development of the cities of Eastern Europe is revealed. Also, the relationship of the Magdeburg Law with the development of the architectural and planning structure of Eastern European cities in the 14th-18th centuries was determined; management systems and architectural and planning characteristics of cities with Magdeburg law are compared against the situation of cities that do not have it; The inertial trace of Magdeburg law is revealed. It was determined that during the formation of cities Magdeburg law laid the idea of ​​a compact city, the density in the central part of the cities with the Magdeburg law is much higher than in comparable feudal cities. Magdeburg law promotes the emergence of quarterly development, not inherent in the Russian cities of that time. In Russia, quarterly development was introduced after 6 centuries by Catherine II. Cities with Magdeburg law and Russian cities had a different mechanism for the formation of centers, in Rus, the church had a great impact on the development of cities. Magdeburg law most actively affects the formation of the city in the initial period of development. In the future, the characteristics of the spatial organization of cities are equalized.
