The development of the Internet and information technology in the 20th century have led to the formation of new trends in the education. This paper examines the process of individualization in the cross-cultural informational pedagogical environment. Nowadays Russia falls behind the developed countries in the extent of e-learning integration. The implementation of e-learning technologies "borrows" concepts from the West without taking into account the cultural and cognitive characteristics and individual traits of students. Thus, the aim of this research is to develop a model of individualization of the electronic educational environment (EEE) in the informational pedagogical environment of a Russian university. The theoretical part consists of the following methods: analysis, generalization and comparison of information. The empirical base includes questioning, observation and study product performance. The paper has three main sections. Firstly, we present an analysis of e-learning individualization tools, comparison of the countries within the Hofstede’s framework for cross-cultural communication and highlight the influence of the cultural-cognitive profile on the EEE design. The next section includes a comparison of e-learning individualization tools in a cross-cultural environment in the case of the following universities: Higher School of Economics (Russia), University of Passau (Germany) and Pázmány Péter Catholic University (Hungary). The final section outlines the recommendations for the enhancement of the EEE in HSE based on the results of the analysis performed and presents a possible way of automation of an individualized approach. Hence, the professional significance of the study is to apply the results obtained for further research in this field since system customizing to the student is an essential aspect of quality education. This study can be used by universities, companies and learning centres to build the personalized approach in the EEE.
