The Establishment of PRC as a World Power in the Context of Military Reform (2015-2020)

Over the past several decades the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has risen to become a prominent player on the world stage. The latest military doctrine reflects the political thoughts and the military strategy of China’s administration. The structure of the modern People’s Liberation Army (PLA) determines its function. The PLA is reorienting itself towards China’s involving priorities, which are evolving in all spheres from weapons acquisitions to army organization. The paper, released by China’s State Council said the army would adopt an ‘active defence’ military strategy, as well as its navy would expand its ‘offshore water defence’ to include ‘open sea protection.’ The PRC also speed up the enhance of cyber forces which would develop its military capabilities. By 2020, China aims to complete military reform and have armed forces capable to conduct global operations, win wars and protect national interests far from its shores. The theoretical argument is implemented by combining several common assumptions from the war and power literature. While the empirical part presented by a nonlinear modeling in the frame of Verhulst-Pearl equation.
