Development of Reference Model for IT-Company

The aim of the study is to build a reference model of business processes for an IT company that provides IT services. The object of the research is the IT companies, the subject of the research are the features of constructing reference models of the processes of companies that provide IT services. The following tasks were set: 1. analyzing the state of the Russian IT market; 2. determining the specificity of the activities of the IT companies being researched on the basis of trends in the development of the IT market in Russia; 3. analyzing existing reference models; 4. building a model of processes, guided by the ARIS methodology. The first chapter of the paper gives a theoretical background on business processes, modeling, and on common modeling methodologies. The second chapter provides an analysis of the Russian IT market, trends in the development of the IT industry, a rationale for choosing the specifics of the IT company, for which a practical example of the reference model will be given, and a review of existing reference models. The review of reference models also provides a critical evaluation of each model. The third chapter is devoted to the construction of the reference model of business processes. Here a general model of top-level processes is built, which is suitable for modeling any IT company, as well as a model of a company that provides IT consulting services. Next, a practical example is given: the constructed model is modified into the process model of the BI company. Then the model is decomposed. The decomposition explains, how the processes are related to each other. The results of this work can be used by IT companies to model and optimize their own activities.
