The dissertation gives a review of literature on the investigated issue, as well as regulatory enactments, theoretical and methodological foundations of educational policy are reviewed. The structure of the training course «Basics of religious cultures and secular ethics» and its relevance in modern education are analyzed. The attitude to the educational discipline of students, parents and political parties is studied. The work shows the analysis of the Russian experience and the experience of the particular school for the introduction into the curriculum of the course «Basics of religious cultures and secular ethics». In accordance with obtained results several recommendations are given on interaction of the school with pupils and parents with the aim of creating positive public opinion about the course. Following the results of conducted theoretical and practical research some conclusions are formulated.
